DBA International 18th Annual Conference: Passport to the Future

Well, as you all know, we’re really big on education for industry professionals. I mean, it’s in our company values for crying out loud. So it’s only natural that we let you know about a conference that’s coming up this February that includes a whole lot of educating and networking opportunities. If you aren’t familiar with DBA International, here’s a little bio on them, pulled from their website;

DBA International is a non-profit trade association and the voice of the debt buying industry. DBA members work in a variety of financial services fields, and includes debt buyers, debt sellers, collection agencies and attorneys, and industry-related service providers. A source of experienced, knowledgeable and ethical debt buyers and other industry participants, DBA sets business conduct standards for the industry by requiring all members to accept and abide by a strict Code of Ethics.

Basically, if you work at an agency or firm with purchased paper, YOU SHOULD BE AT THIS CONFERENCE. OR, if you’re offering products or services to the collection industry, this is a great place to get your brand out there! Below is some info on the conference itself. We’ve attended in the past, and trust us, it’s a great event. This year looks like it’s shaping up to be a great conference!

DBA International’s 18th Annual Conference – Passport to the Future – brings together all the players in the industry – welcoming over 1,200 attendees and showcasing over 130 exhibit booths – and provides abundant networking opportunities with key participants in the debt buying industry including many of the major creditors and international members. It’s the perfect setting to learn about the latest trends impacting the industry and meet your certification requirements.

Here are some of the exciting changes you will experience in 2015:

  • A larger audience resulting from DBA’s two new membership categories;
  • Originating creditors and issuers will host their agency/attorney network meetings on site;
  • Three General Sessions featuring timely and relevant keynote speakers will take place in the exhibit hall;
  • Live music during the evening receptions;
  • Expanded educational tracks including a compliance/attorney/legal and legislative track, a new markets track and an operations track;
  • Ample credit opportunities toward attaining or maintaining your DBA certification;
  • CLE credits where appropriate.

All of these elements were designed to generate increased business opportunities for attendees, exhibitors and sponsors.

    When I first got into the industry, I went to a DBA International to get my feet wet and meet some people. My boss thought it would be a good opportunity for me to be a part of it. Not only was it a great networking opportunity, but I got to talk to a lot of people about some of the challenges they were facing in their careers. This was five or six years ago, so I imagine now with all the changes that are taking place, there must be some great discussions happening on the exhibit floor and within the educational sessions.

    I highly recommend this to anyone in the industry, no matter what level you are in within your organization.
